Korea Klubben 35th Anniversary & Gathering
Date: July 11 to 13, 2025
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
In July 2025, Korea Klubben marked a remarkable milestone, 35 years as an all-volunteer adoptee community organization, by hosting a multi-day anniversary celebration and Gathering in Copenhagen. The event brought together local members and friends from across the global adoptee network for a weekend rooted in hygge, reflection, and connection
The event featured guest speakers Joy Lieberthal Rho and Sara Docan-Morgan. Joy delivered a powerful and reflective talk on transracial identity, healing, and mental health, while Sara shared insights from her research on family reunion and facilitated intergenerational and cross-cultural panel conversations. The event also featured age-based breakout sessions, community discussions, and film screenings including Between Goodbyes and Ban Dal. Shared meals and evening gatherings, highlighted by a community Korean BBQ dinner and noreabang, created space for informal connection and celebration.
In parallel, Korea Klubben hosted a vibrant Korean Festival in central Copenhagen. Open and lively in atmosphere, the festival featured taekwondo demonstrations, K-pop dance performances, Squid Game inspired activities, hands-on kimchi and creative handicraft workshops, and Korean foods all set within a street-festival environment. The festival served as a joyful point of connection between the adoptee community, Korea, and the broader public, showcasing Korean culture through creativity, participation, and shared celebration.
